Leadership

Meet Clay Mateer

Buried Treasures Home is led by our Executive Director, Mr. Clay Mateer, along with his wife Gail who is his essential and invaluable partner. Taking this leadership role in 2023 was an answer to prayer for Clay, because he’s had a passion to serve in this capacity for many years. He started with BTH in 2015 as a volunteer instructor and has served on the BTH Board of Directors since 2016. His entire resume actually appears to be divinely designed to prepare him for this: He has worked as Director of Prison and Aftercare Ministry with Beginning Again in Christ; as a Special Agent with the Secret Service; as a Mississippi Probation Officer; as an Investigator/Interviewer with the Department of Defense; as an Instructor and Volunteer Coordinator in the 1A unit at CMCF; as Instructor/Volunteer with Crossroads Ministries in Ridgeland; and all of this was before coming to Buried Treasures Home where he’s been involved since 2015. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Welfare and Master’s in Criminal Justice. And Clay was ordained into the Gospel Ministry at Crossroads Baptist Church in 1987. So his spiritual depth, compassionate heart, and relevant education and work experience make him a perfect fit for the BTH ministry.

We are very thankful for both Clay and Gail!
